Database structure

What objects, properties, tables, workflows, relationships do you need to include in your database? What customization options are required? You should consider every aspect of your database structure in advance in order to ensure database compliance with business needs. 24x7 availability

Is there a necessity to keep your database available 24 hours 7 days a week? For example, your database may be accessed by users from different time zones so it should be operational 24 hours. Also you may employ freelancers who work on weekends.

Backup and recovery

There are two types of backup – cold backup and hot backup – which impact data consistency and user access. Cold backup means you back up your database only after all users are off the database in order to ensure data consistency in the backup copy. Hot backup means that users can be logged in the database when you are making a backup.

Database size

You need to estimate the expected disk space of your database for the first several years. Database size depends on data types, indices, tables, backups, replication files. Then you can use your estimate to manage the scalability of your server’s hardware and software.
