  • You save your money and resources because use of energy and water is reduced in your offices.
  • Sending less trash to the land fill lets you save you money as well.
  • Going green means you can establish positive relationships with local compliance inspectors and avoid liability, fines and other sanctions.
  • Employees enjoy working for you at safer and healthy workplaces.

  • Your company gets a new enhanced image.
  • Your business can benefit from getting free, time-saving assistance from various environment protection agencies.

 2. Ideas of Energy-Efficient Practices.

  • Lighting.
    • Use only energy-efficient lighting (e.g. CFL, LED, T8) in your offices.
    • Make revision of lighting equipment and systems and make sure the number of fixtures and light bulbs is optimized, so there is no excessive lighting in your offices.
    • Make sure work spaces, meeting halls, rest rooms and other common areas are equipped with switching capabilities, so employees can choose variable levels of lighting.
    • Install an exterior lighting system that automatically shuts off outdoor lamps during daylight.
    • Keep interior and exterior lighting during closing hours to a minimum. Electric lighting should be used only for reasonable security purposes.

      • Instruct your workers in the necessity to shut down their computers at the end of each workday.
      • Consider activating standby mode in all the computers in your office, so monitors and hardware will turn off after 30 minutes of inactivity. Also idle work stations should be controlled to minimize energy use.
      • Set thermostats to 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) during heating season.
      • Consider possibility of using natural gas or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) for office heating.
      • Prohibit your employees to use coffee makers and similar appliances with continuous "ON" option.
      • Instruct your employees in the necessary to turn off electric power strips of work stations with multiple devices at the end of each workday.
    • Vehicles.
      • Make sure drivers of your company are instructed in proper use of driving techniques that improve fuel efficiency.
      • Consider using light trucks if possible.

      • Make sure your drivers plan their routes before departure (in such a way they minimize vehicle miles traveled).
      • Involve your employees in participating in carpools.
