"...This is an excellent program. I'm so glad that I stumbled on to this when researching for task management programs. Very low learning curv, quite flexible, and the price is right. Tried at least 20 other programs, either too complicated, too expensive, or poor documentation..."

Personal Financial Planning Checklist This Personal Financial Planning Checklist will be helpful to anyone who wishes to be successful with planning his/her family financial welfare, because this checklist outlines the process that can be followed to reach more controllability with money you earn and spend.   • Make an estimate of the major upcoming seasonal costs (for example costs for energy, fuel and heating significantly increase during wintertime);
  • Arrange the “family council” to consult and determine what expenses are absolutely necessary now (for example you may really need buying a new car);
  • Collect your bank statements from the past several months to get a clear vision of your incomes and expenses. This will help you to forecast your budget for the current period of time;
  • Calculate your planned revenues (wages, incomes from bank deposits, rent, etc) and create a taxation file for this season (or month) to minus all compulsory payments (this will help to plan your net income to be spent, which is calculated as money left over after paying all your taxes, insurance fees, donations, etc);

It is recommended to consider some ways for making emergency savings that may take from 5% to 10% of your net income;

  • Create and maintain your spreadsheet to track your costs across the main spending categories such as food, transportation (car), household, clothing, entertainment, debt, health, etc:

You may employ some programs to calculate and manage your family’s finances, or you may just use Excel sheet where rows will represent your spending categories, while columns are for recording planned and actual sums;

  • Determine if your family budget allows some extra costs. If no, start determining where you can make the cuts to avoid deficit:

Consider what expenses can be rejected to let you save more resources for critical categories. Probably buying a new multi-functional TV set this season is something that you can postpone for a while if this can create a shortage for more important categories of the family’s welfare;

  • Prioritize your costs by their importance and create your financial baseline of spending so all your vital expenses can be covered with the budget. Try to consider the most realistic prices and tariffs for goods that you usually prefer to buy (analyze the trends for prices this season);
  • Keep updating the records on the actual costs paid in your software (remember that the most expensive and sophisticated tool is just a waste of money unless you diligently use it):

So you can regularly control your reports to check how far the actual costs deviate from the planned ones to know if there are no serious miscalculations and to decide on what can be done to remedy the situation;

  • If you think that something goes wrong with your finances (your planning doesn’t work), then don’t hesitate to ask for advice from professionals in this area;

Services of personal financial planners are quite popular today. These guys will help you to find financial leaks in your budget, and will help you to optimize your taxation and expenses;
